Hi community

I am researching on how to invite an external client to our Odoo, so that they will see only Project App, and only have access to 1 Project our of many with Read access rights?


I did steps advised by @cybrosis in this link

I created a group in dev mode, added a user to it with read access only to Project model.

I created  record rule  but  in the domain part i am not sure what to put

And also the problem is, that you cant just invite with email. You need to either create an internal user and invite, or invite to portal, then invite portal user.

1.Create a group in project model with read only access. Maybe you want to duplicate the project /user group and in the access rights tab have the access as read access to the various models. The user would require access to more than just project, they would need to task, stages, contact etc. Believe you have already created it). 

2. Create your projects as 'private' so you can limit the internal users having access to each project. Only invited users will have access and the level of access will be that of the individual user's access rights as their group


Yes, you would have to first create them as internal user and then invite them to project by adding them as follower to the project.

I would second @Ray recommendation of having them as portal users. With setting up this new group as internal users, the risk is that they might already have access to other projects which aren't set as 'private'.

Thanks! But what you are sugegsting will work for the newly created project. In our case, it is an existing project that many portal users has access to, once i make it internal/privateit will overrride the access rights andportal users will loose access to it

HI Ray,

Thanks for your prompt response, but I dont want to do that via portal. I know how to share it through portal.

I wanna invite to odoo but with restrictions to visibility Project App, and visibility to only 1 project
