I have MO of a certain product A. Product A has component B in the BOM. Lot/ Serial numbers were introduced and the manufactured product A and component B are stored in different lot/serial numbers.

during Manufacturing process, system pics component B from Lot 1 and Lot 2 to fullfill the quantity of component B needed to manufacture product A.

When marking the MO as done, system give the error shown below

"Cannot set the done quantity from this stock move, work directly with the move lines."

Options explored include:

  1. Changing Decimal precision to a lower number.
  2. Deleting one duplicate stock move line (this is what i currently use)
  3. Creating a new product A (This option wont work since other products are also facing the same issue)

Since you are using the manufacturing module, try out the module: MO and BoM variance whose author is intelliVersal integrated solutions. This module generates a variance analysis report showing the quantity and cost differences between BoM and actual MO.

Little uncertain about that error message. But it might indicate that you have not specified in lot consumed in the manufacturing order.   If the picking is an inventory operation, it do not automatic confirm that this is the lot number used.

Normally confirm like this (if you do not use work order): Click on the bars on the right side, and it opens the move lines

And you specify lot and qty:
