HI all-


I'm trying to understand something.  I'm starting a small business making things and want to sell them at like local market places and the like.  I like the POS and inventory management of Odoo.  What I would like to do is install/self host (on like digitalocean).  From what I gather I can pay ~$50/USD to use the apps I need for odoo.  But what I don't see is how do I connect my self-hosted odoo to my paid subscription?  


Once I figure that out my next set of questions are - I see where I can use a payment system like Stripe or Square to integrate into my webstore/pos to process credit card. Great.  Can I also integrate my usps account into it to manage shipping/tracking numbers?  Is that an additional $50/mo to use a 2nd app?  (first app being Stripe/Square to process credit cards).


Sorry if these are dumb questions I just don't see the answers in the documentation I've been reading.

Hi Kris,

Here are my answers to your questions:

1. when you set up your Odoo instance, you should consider beforehand whether you need the Community Edition (CE) or the Enterprise Edition (EE) of Odoo - only the Enterprise version costs money. Normally around 30 euros per user per month - you no longer pay per app at Odoo, but only per active user in the system.

If you decide on an EE, contact Odoo S.A. directly - here you will receive a so-called Enterprise Key, which you can enter on an instance to connect your subscription to your instance.

2 Odoo supports shipping via USPS by default - search for “USPS” in the apps of your Odoo instance and install the required module. You can then select USPS in the warehouse configuration under “Shipping methods”. There are no additional costs for installing the app, as Odoo charges per user and the app is also supported by default
