Uploading images to Odoo community edition converts jpegs into black and white with vertical stripes. PNG files are fine but jpegs does this. No errors in any logs. Someone else posted about this also a year ago but I can’t see a fix. Does anyone have a resolution to this. It’s urgent before I toss out Odoo and look for an alternative. It’d be a shame really.

This is a behaviour I've never experienced nor heard about. You still do no provide any information in order to get help.
Hi, what information do you need? I will post it straight away if you let me know what you need.
Try to trace down the problem, browser console log, different browsers, check the dependencies, are they all met, what's your environment, can you provide a link for the post you mentioned, did you check with Bitnami, look at the images in the filestore, do they look the same, are the pictures different for the different sizes, does it concern images uploaded in the backend or website or both....
Is this problem maybe related to this issue? https://github.com/python-pillow/Pillow/issues/2609
Maybe the Odoo Bitnami image is using a different version of Pillow for resizing the avatar jpgs and the original is not?
