Hi everyone,

I have a use case in which I would like to track the stock quantities of certain items that are meant for internal consumption / use such as stationery. I have created an internal stock location called stationery where all purchased stationery is stored. However, how should I record outgoing stock once these are expensed to the office for use. PS, they are not used to manufacture a specific thing.

This seems to be the right way as it will make the necessary accounting move. However, I feel that there should be an easier way... Also, we may not know how much/many items have been used.

Solution 1:

You create new stock location (type inventory), set it the appropriate accounts and ... at the end, prepare move to it.

Solution 2:

Create move with destination = Customers Location, without invoicing, and with partner = your company.

Solution 3:

regarding your second solution, actually we are using something in our office so those are became our asset and we have to show them on Final Account otherwise we have to treat those as a expense.

I will recomend this application for internal consumption.

Its available in odoo 13 and developer can  migrate it for you in any version  without any extra cost.

I think, you mean take inventory for use in the business,

if so use inventory adjust, set the adjusting account to the business use account (office expenses), and lower the qty.
