Is it acceptable to modify a stock record rule or is it considered best practice to first duplicate it and achieve the original?
Slightly different note. Why do some of the stock record rules have extra spaces and carriage returns?

Hi,
You can directly modify the existing record rule directly in the db or via custom code, you can inherit the rule and apply changes to it.
Even when doing from code, the same record is updated directly. Also for most of the rule, no update is set as True so on upgrading the module, you wont loose your changes.

Thank you for the insights. I think you hit my main concern with the no update field.
During our upgrade from 15 to 16 we had a lot of issues with reports that seemed to steam back to modified originals and thus no update. We no longer had a functional stock report to reference in trying to update our modifed reports.
I'll ponder this for a bit. With all the interrelationships I'm not sure how feasible it will be to duplicate and replace.
