Yes, you can sell products even without installing or using the purchase modules.

If you want to "enable" importing products. make sure your account has technical features box ticked (in the settings - user menu). And also be sure you have the option enabled: "Allow users to import data from CSV files" in the "General Settings"

In my opinion,  its best to fill in one product with all the information you want, then export that product. you will then have a kind of framework where you can put all the other products in, before you upload the complete file
