Just specify the database server in the Odoo configuration file, instead of localhost.
db_host = THE_NAME_OR_IP_OF_THE_POSTGRESQL_SERVER
db_port = THE_PORT_IF_NOT_THE_DEFAULT_PORT
db_user = THE_USER_NAME
db_password = THE_PASSWORD_UNLESS_YOU_SETUP _POSTGRESQL_TRUST_CONNECTIONS
