Hello, in the marketing module, I want to create a list of contacts, but not by importing or exporting, but directly from the contacts application.


In the database I already have many contacts and clients who have left me their phone number and email address, I only want to carry out marketing operations with contacts that I already have, classifying them in different campaigns and segmenting them.


I don't see the operation to incorporate the contacts that are already in the contacts application into the contact lists of the email marketing application.


I would also like to know if, based on a certain criterion, these lists could be kept permanently updated in relation to the contacts application, for example: tags.

Creating and Managing Contact Lists in Odoo's Marketing Module:

To create contact lists directly from the contacts you already have in your database and manage them for your marketing operations, follow these steps:

1. Link Contacts to Marketing Campaigns:

3. Automating Updates to Mailing Lists:

  • If you want your mailing lists to be automatically updated based on certain criteria, you can use Odoo's Automated Actions or leverage Odoo Studio:
    • Automated Actions: You can set up automated actions that add contacts to a specific mailing list when certain conditions are met, like when a tag is added or a field is updated.
    • Odoo Studio: With Studio, you can customize the model and add automated processes or custom triggers to manage the dynamic updating of your lists.

4. Use of Tags:

  • Tags can be a powerful way to segment your contacts. By assigning tags to contacts, you can easily filter them in the Email Marketing module and ensure your mailing lists stay up-to-date.
  • Create a system where adding or removing a tag automatically updates the contact's inclusion in the relevant mailing list.

5. Ongoing Management:

  • Regularly check and update your filters and tags to ensure your mailing lists remain relevant.
  • Consider setting up regular checks or notifications to remind you to review these lists.

Hi Alejandro, 

If you want to send a mailing to a filtered subset of your existing contacts you don't need to create a mailing list. When creating a mailing, under 'Recipients', you can select 'Contacts' and if needed filter further based on other contact attributes and save the filter.

In this example the contacts are further filtered based on "tags=consulting services":
