Course Title: Introduction to Urban Planning

Course Description:

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to the field of urban planning, exploring the principles, processes, and practices that shape cities and communities. Students will examine the historical evolution of urban planning, key theories and models, and the political, economic, and social forces that influence land use and urban form. Topics include zoning, housing, transportation, environmental planning, public space, and community engagement. Through case studies, readings, and hands-on projects, students will gain a foundational understanding of how urban planners work to create sustainable, inclusive, and livable environments. Emphasis will be placed on critical thinking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and ethical decision-making in the planning process.
