My client wants to track the parts that have been disassembled from Product A, which is no longer being sold and used in assembling Product B. Within OpenERP BOM, is there a way to record the transition of parts from Product A to Product B.

Yes its possible through a custom dismantle module, to get back the raw materials from product A into the stock and use them to produce product B. You need to do the reverse of manufacturing process.
