hi,

I want to try a "product_custom_attributes" Module which I can find ^ download here: http://v6apps.openerp.com I put the unpacked folder it into D:\Program Files\OpenERP 7.0-20130210-002135\Server\server\openerp\addons and try to run a "Update Modules List". Nothing happens ...

I have learned earlier that it can be that this module "hasn't ported to V7 yet". What do I have to do to get this ported to v7?

  • convince the original author (www.akretion.com in this case) to do that?
  • sit and wait (because that will happen sooner or later anyway)?
  • convince anybody to do the work?

If I 'convince anybody' to do that. Would the result of this then become a part of the official V7 modules or just be a private amusement of mine? or a become a 'community module' (not sure if that is correct term)?

There must be people out there using this, so I guess there might be some urge from them to get this upped to v7 soon. Would everybody cook his own soup here in such a case or how is this to be done most efficient? Actually there are only 100 downloads so apparently this is not very popular.

Anyway apart from this example I'd like to understand how this is handled most efficiently. Meaning: what should I (as an individual, who has no capabilities of programming myself) do to get an 'old' module to be ported?

thanks for that link. Now we now that akretion people are working on that, great! To me (as I can't translate what this launchpad site into "when it will be ready" This leaves me wondering whether this will take 3 more months, a year or just a couple of days .... Apart from that your answer would be a pointing towards the 'sit & wait' approach.
