I currently use a different website builder and I'm really happy with the service, but wanted to check out what odoo had to offer. well I made a sample site and now i can't delete it. I don't want a half built site of my company out there, but I can't seem to delete it. I keep on getting this error: " You cannot delete default website My Website. Try to change its settings instead ". I am on developer mode. any helpful tips?

When you get "You cannot delete default website My Website...", you must switch to a different website as your new default first and only after that attempt to delete the website.
This is how to do it:
- Activate the Developer Mode in Settings
- Then in Settings in the top menu go to Technical -> External Identifiers
- In the search box enter 'default_website' and click "Search External Identifier for: dafault_website"
- in search results you will see "website.default_website" in the "Complete ID" column, with Display Name showing the name of the website you are unable to delete
- click on that row
- in "Record ID" field enter the ID of your other website that you will be making a new default (if you don't know the ID, try entering 2 or 3 or 4, until you see the name of the desired website in the "Display Name" field)
- That's all, you can now go back to the list of the websites and delete the former default one.

To delete a default website you to change the default_website ID record with the second website, if you only made two websites the ID has to be set from 1 to 2.
follow this path developer mode, setup -> technique -> external id and search for "default_website", and change the id of the record.
once this is done you will be able to delete the website
Didn't work for me. And I guess also not for the thread owner, because he seems to have only single one website.
Maybe I can not delete a website (of three) because it was the first I bulit? Changing its order don't work unfortunately. Any other hints?

Try changing the order of the websites in list view. The first one is set as the default, and that's why this error appears.
