We have acquired a website from Godaddy and trying to set it up using Odoo.
Can you please provide detailed guidelines about how this can be performed?
I have seen somewhere in the forum an advice to create a cname using www but the specific cname is already created in godaddy and in any case it is not edidable and the system does not allow to create another one.

If you already bought the domain name and i believe currently the domain is having a website right? So what i understood is you are looking to create a website using the Odoo and redirect your domain name to the newly creating odoo instance.
If this is the case, you can do as follows:
* Set up and odoo instance, in the cloud server
* Design your website by code or using odoo website builder
* Now in the Godaddy, you have to contact its chat support and say that you need to edit the cname record of the domain, then they will unlink the current website, so you will be able to edit the cname and point to odoo instance
