I have a product that has 10 different variants. I want to build some of those variants to stock (inventory) but other than a sales order I don't see where to configure a product. I do not get the selection pages when I create a manufacturing order. Any help is greatly appreciated

Hi,
Create
a new BoM or edit an existing one by going to Manufacturing ‣ Products ‣
Bills of Materials. Then, click Edit. The Apply on Variants option to
assign components to specific product variants on the BoM is available
once the Variants setting is activated from the Inventory application.
If the Apply on Variants field is not immediately visible, activate it
from the additional options menu.

OK so as I understand it I just have to make the variant BOM ahead and use it. I cannot configure it "on the fly".
