I understand punchout is nothing but exchange of cart information back to the procurement system via cXML. However, what I am wondering is the following;
1. We need to set up a generic punchout user for requests coming from the procurement system?
2. If so, how do we handle multiple requests at the same time?
Any ideas/insights are much appreciated.

As far as I understood you need to setup multiple accounts for it to work. I tried building my own extension but in the end I found it to complex and got in touch with InstaPunchout. They are cheap so it wasn't worth the effort to build my own.
