Suppose I have created a finished product as Caramel Cake which is having UOM in kg. & then I created BOM as manufacturing product for Caramel cake with components.

I have manufactured Caramel cake of 3 kg which is in stock.

Secondly, I have created another product like celebrations which I have set as storage product. & This product I have created as BOM KIT. So let if I entere caramel cake 0.500 kg as component in kit, the stock for celebrations which is a kit shows 6kg in stock.

I want to know how the calculation works for BOM KIT.

Hello,

  1. BOM Kit vs. Manufacturing BOM:
    • A BOM Kit does not consume or produce products in the traditional manufacturing sense.
    • Instead, when you sell or deliver a BOM Kit, it picks the stock directly from the components. In your case, it would check the stock of Caramel Cake to fulfill the Celebrations Kit.
  2. Stock Calculation for BOM Kit:
    • For Product B (Celebrations Kit), the stock is virtual and depends on the availability of its components.
    • The stock quantity for the Celebrations Kit will reflect how many kits can be assembled based on the component availability.
    • If your BOM Kit requires 0.5 kg of Caramel Cake per kit, and you have 3 kg of Caramel Cake in stock, you can technically assemble 6 kits (3 kg ÷ 0.5 kg = 6 kits).
    • That’s why the system shows 6 kg in stock for the Celebrations Kit.

Check and Clarify your doubts.
