Is it possible to restore a v7 database onto a v8 installation? I tried restoring from a v7 backup today and it broke my installation. Is there some sort of migration tool, or is it impossible to go from v7 to v8 at this point? Thanks!

You have to pay for it. I don't know any tool that does that automatically. Even last weeks I've been having some issues because some columns were changing.... If you compare both versions you're not going to find some columns, maybe models, and things like that. So you've to pay to Odoo. Or you can do it manually, table by table..

You have two options. Odoo has their v8 migration scripts for enterprise customers and there is a community upgrade that you can do yourself.

Hi Alex, I'd recommend either speaking to Odoo.com directly regarding their upgrade service, or checking out the OpenUpgrade project: https://doc.therp.nl/openupgrade https://github.com/OpenUpgrade/OpenUpgrade However with OpenUpgrade it is a community project and is not yet setup for 7 > 8 as the 8.0 final stable release has not yet been released by Odoo. Depending on how much data you have to migrate you could either do it manually by way of CSV export/import between the two different version (which would be very time consuming), or wait until OpenUpgrade releases a workable solution to migrate from v7 > v8 .
