Hi,


I have about 6 in good shape EPSON Tm88III thermal printers. According to the odoo page, TM88 is one of the supported printers, however since this is a serial only printer and, so it is not serial over usb, I bought LogiLink serial to usb converters, but have hard time to get printers recognized. 

What I managed to do for now is change the IN and OUT addresses for serial communication so because LogiLink advertises 0x083 and not 0x081 which is set as default in printer module. So after changing default addresses to the ones that Converter is actually using I can get posbox web interface saying that printer is connected (it finds Prolific instead of EPSON but this is due to vendor of the cable converter).

Anyhow, there is no printing happening, and whenever I send something from the pos, I get Operation times out error (110).

Anybody has any clues or suggestions? I have GBP 1000 value of printers on stock that are almost unused so far and I would hate not to reuse them.

I also have an SAM4S printer that has USB connection, but that one I cannot even get connected.

I'm sorry I have no direct experience with this printer and the posbox I'm using an Epson TM-T20 so it's all working well for me however I have had experience of USB to Serial conversions in the past when administering switches / servers etc and can I suggest you look to lower the baud rate in your configuration to the lowest possible? I've had this in the past where the comms is too highspeed from USB for the Serial device (in this case your printer) to keep up, if that works slowly up the rate till you get the fastest stable rate, hope this helps.

I mean lower the baud rate, if its 9600, drop it to 4800 / 2400 / 1200 and see if one works, when it's too high you get a % packet loss which may cause the operation to timeout as some of the message never arrives.

it is set to 9600, I doubt it is too slow.   but I can try.

But the thing is I get operation time out in the first place.
