I want to be able to easily distinguish logged notes from emails in/out, and system messages, in chatter. I've played with a ton of css but so far nothing I can find specifically points to only notes logged via the Log Note button.
Can some css wizard, please give me the selector? I am no good at css.

To changes or add the CSS for Log Note created by Log Note button inside chatter you can use selector .o-mail-Message[aria-label="Note"].
I've attached screenshot where I've added red border for log note for your reference.
