Has anyone managed to setup a working odoo environment on visual code?

I guess that you wanna mean Visual Studio Code?
If True then I think that the Odoo configuration remains the same, you still will need to have installed the needed python dependencies and your Odoo config is used to run Odoo and it's not tied to VS Code or development so you could use the normal Odoo config options file format
