how do we change the layout of invoices, reports, quotations etc? We were able to do that with the designer in the previous version.

You can still use the report designer with v7.
If you use openERP Online, by default, all users use the OAUth authentication mechanism. The report designer plugin only support login/password through XML-RPC to connect to the OpenERP server.
So, if you use OpenERP Online, you must first assign a password to your user before using the report designer. From the user form, click on the top menu More and select Change Password.
This will force your user to use a normal password that you can use from the report designer.
