Prerequisite

  1. Install sales and inventory application
  2. The demonstration is based in United States localization
  3. Create product attribute: Milk (creation: Never), some values
  4. Create product attribute: Syrups (creation: Never), some values
  5. This is the 'product template' 'import template'
    This file has product attributes and variants included

  1. Video


  2. Create a product named 'Black coffee'
  3. Create attributes and values from the sales application
    The following example is Milk with values
  4. After we have two attributes, Milk and Syrups, export with the columns below.

3. We will get the Excel file as below. The red and blue boxes match the export technical field above.

4. Prepare the Excel file with the product template name and external ID, product attribute external ID, and values external ID.

Most importantly, select the correct Odoo field.

You can import product variants in Odoo 18 using the Import feature from the Product Variants menu.

📌 Steps:

  1. Go to Inventory → Products → Product Variants.
  2. Click on “Import” in the top right.
  3. Download the sample import template to ensure correct formatting.
  4. Your file must include:
    • Product Template (internal reference or name)
    • Attribute names and values (e.g., Color: Red, Size: M)
    • Internal Reference and Barcode (optional)
  5. Upload and test the import using the Test Import button first.
