Correct, we use odoo version 16.0, and thank you very much for telling us how to modify the generated 1D code, we internally have a fairly primitive traceability of the products we manufacture and the products we acquire, since we require that the branches are really selling the closest products to expire than those that arrive new.

As for lots numbers... Do you need it on all products?
If you are manufacturing , raw material usually does not need it, but end product might...
Lots makes it easier to deal with groups of products , but Odoo needs to know where to deduct stuff if Lot tracking is enabled for the product
