I have a requirement where we need to give read only access to sales order and sales order line to a user.
How to achieve this through configuration.
I tried creating a new group and giving access right as read only but it doesn't work?

I am able to create a read only user for sales module.
It can be done by creating a read only copy of sales : own lead only.
ODOO 9 do not allows to duplicate the group ,so need to export the group Sales: own lead only ,then change the permission to read only ,and change the name of the group to sales : read only ( as per your requirement).
Import it to ODOO and a new group will be created with red only permissions.
Can set rule in group to create security gruoup.
