Hi all,

during the invoice creation out of a sales order, the invoice lay-out only shows proforma suddenly. My proforma tickbox is not switched on for my sales app.

Any clue what might be the issue?

Many thanks!

Best regards,

Roger

Hello,

I would like to provide input as when an invoice is in the draft stage and the customer previews it, it appears as a "PROFORMA" draft invoice. Upon confirmation, it is displayed as a "PROFORMA" invoice.

Once the invoice is sent to the customer through the “Send and Print” button, it is labeled simply as an "Invoice". Hence. if you print the invoice from preview until it is sent to the customer it will be printed as a Proforma draft invoice/ Proforma invoice. Once the invoice is sent to the customer, it will be printed as an invoice. This behavior has been improved from version 17 and it is designed to reflect the invoice status accurately: during the draft and confirmed stages, it is considered provisional until the customer approves it.

Once you send it to the customer, then it is identified as a consolidated invoice. So, "proforma" is just a temporary label until it's officially sent out.

The video representation taken on a runbot is attached below, Standard runbot version 17: Video

I hope you will find this information helpful.

Have a nice day!

Hey Roger, sounds like you're facing a bit of a puzzler with that invoice layout showing as profroma unexpectedly. I get why that's frustrating. Let's dig into it a bit. In Odoo, invoice templates sometimes drive u nuts becuase they can be influenced by different settings or template defaults, even when the boxes aren't toggled like in your case with the pro forma.

First off, double-check teh settings under the accounting module, especially focusing on the document templates. Sometimes, an update or configuration change can swap out the default template. Head to accounting -> customers -> invoices, and take a look at teh templates section. If you've got the right access, you can tweak or assign other invoice templates for specific operations.

Another angle is customizations. If you’ve had any recent customizations or apps installed, it's worth revisiting those changes. Often these plug-ins carry their own default settings and might override existing settings. In my experience, a customization gone rogue ain't that rare, and surprise profroma layout switches are a classic clue.

Lastly, check out the server actions or automated actions. I know some users set them up to handle specific workflows, and these can easily mess with the PDF print process without raising any flags. If none of these solve it, diving into the Odoo logs is gonna be your best hope. They can often give you a hint if there's a code level oversight or bug slipping through. Good luck roaming around ;). Hope this gets you back on track!

Same issue while not even using the Sales app (free version only) and didn't change anything in the settings.

Some failure at Odoo and no answers.
