I spun up a server at Linode and deployed Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, after which a developer installed Odoo. Apparently Odoo includes its own MTA or mailing script (not sure which one it is) for notifications as the developer says he's receiving notifications.

My problem here is that, as the server admin, I need a way to receive notifications and alerts from the server (OS) and a firewall (CSF/LFD). Normally, I set up Sendmail with SMTP authentication to forward the messages to root and then relay them to an external email address. But, it's not clear if doing so on this server would clash with the mail/notification functionality of Odoo.

Does anyone here know how to receive server/firewall messages without disturbing the notification functionality of Odoo?
