Change field type through python

Question

i want to change field type( integer to float) in one free module but i cant ,this error show on :
Properties of base fields cannot be altered in this manner! Please modify them through Python code, preferably through a custom addon!
how can fix it?
i think if i change integer to float in blew  code its done but  i have wrong :
sale_price = fields.integer( string = "Sale Price" ,  required = True )

You can change a field type by using xpath if you dont want to mess with the real code. Create a field with the same name but different type and in use replace in xpath e.g.
sale_price = fields.Float(string='Sale Price')
<xpath  expr ="//field[@name='sale_price']"  position ="replace" >
One other thing is that type is defined with a capital letter.

Hi,
You can uninstall the module, change the field type directly in the code, and restart the service and install/upgrade the module. As it is a custom module you can direcltly edit and change the field type or you can create a new module depending on this and change the field type in it.
