Dear all,

I am trying to explain my request.

I have created a Bom with many components.

During the product's life, the development team does some modifications on components.

I would like to know if it is possible to keep the same first reference components and adding a revision index.

eg : the first ref is AH00011_A and if we do a modification with have AH00011_B.

It allows not to create a new components and to update easily all the BOM which could use this part number.

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

Thanks for your reply. It is exactly what I would like to do.

Can you please tell me how I can increment the revision in Odoo ?

I will try to use the PLM app too.

Best regards

Why do you want to give the revised BOM a new article number? I wouldn't do that under any circumstances, because what happens is exactly what you describe: all BOMs in which this article is used have to be changed. Instead, I would not change the article number and increment the revision (Odoo standard). I also recommend organizing BOM changes via the PLM app, which is really great.

Hi Dr. Thomas Koliwer.

Thanks for taking the time to contribute. I have posted a similar question and your answer is exactly what I tested, however you may be able to help with a couple of points.

If, using PLM, we create a version change on a component from 1->2, the component version does not show on the BOM, and is not a selectable column to add. does this require a Studio change or a further process?

Also, if we make a product version change, in the Product view -> On Hand there is nothing to differentiate between inventory on hand of version 1 and version 2. Again, how is this handled?

thanks for your time

PLM will make the increment automatically. The new BOM will be activated, the old one archived. The revision number can be found on BOM's folder "Miscellaneous"

For me one of the biggest advantages of using PLM is that you can see direct on the product all related ECO's (Engineering Change Orders) so see the change history of a product/a BOM.
