Yes, For odoo PostgreSQL is in use and its supported version will be changed concerning odoo version.

so you mean supported version of PostgreSQL will be changed 

 but not the DB Engine will not be changed

 Does community and enterprise use same DB Engine(PostgreSQL ).?
