Global Storm IT Corporation

InkSmith was founded in 2016 in Kitchener, Ontario, with a vision to bring meaningful, hands-on technology into classrooms. Starting with 3D printing tools and materials, the company quickly evolved to develop educational technology that supports modern learning. From the k8 robotics kit to the Climate Action Kit powered by micro:bit, InkSmith empowers educators to deliver engaging STEM experiences that help students build real-world skills and tackle real-world problems.

When the COVID-19 pandemic emerged, InkSmith shifted focus to meet an urgent national need. The company launched The Canadian Shield, producing millions of face shields and masks for frontline workers across Canada. This rapid pivot was driven by the same principles at the heart of their educational work: innovation, adaptability, and community support. It was a defining moment that demonstrated InkSmith’s commitment to taking action when it matters most.

Since then, InkSmith has returned to education with renewed energy. The launch of Forward Education helped expand access to purpose-driven learning tools globally, while the newly redesigned Climate Action Kit brought environmental science and climate literacy to the forefront of classrooms. In 2024, the acquisition of Filaments.ca allowed InkSmith to offer a broader range of 3D printing materials, supporting educators, makers, and students with even more resources to bring ideas to life.

InkSmith is inspiring tomorrow’s problem solvers by empowering today’s classrooms.
