Hello,

I have configured all the parts that can be purchased to "Buy" and set the parts that are assemblies or sub-assemblies to "Manufacture." I’m not using the MTO option (I’ve archived it as I thought it might interfere with this). However, every time I create a Manufacturing Order (MO) for a part, it generates its own Purchase Orders (POs) and links them to the MO. For example, I have 6 MOs and 28 POs—5 from one vendor, 3 from another, and 4 from yet another vendor. Sometimes, the same part is repeated across different POs, but because each PO is triggered by a different MO, a new PO is created each time.

The issue is that when we’re creating an MO, we’re often assembling a whole system that uses similar parts across different sub-assemblies. Instead of creating a single PO for the same vendor, Odoo generates multiple POs. Sometimes, the same part appears two or three times across these POs. Previously, Odoo would create just one PO and include all the parts needed for that vendor in that PO, but that’s no longer happening—this only occurs with MOs. If we are reselling parts from a Sales Order (SO) to a vendor, Odoo does merge the POs, so instead of creating multiple POs, it creates just one and adds more parts to it as more SOs are created.

Any recommendations to get it back to how it was?

Some additional information might help here.
1. Which version are you on? Since you mention this was working previously which version was that?
2. Any routes have been added or modified?
3. Is manufacturing 1 step or multiple step route?
4. What triggers reorder? Do you have replenishment or reordering rules for components
