I want our sales people to have a view on delivery status of sales order when viewing. The delivery order can be see in another tab or on the same view. Has anyone done this before ?

There is a field called picking_ids in sale order, if sale_stock module is installed. You can add this field in the form view of sale order.I think you have to provide warehouse user group to all the users who comes under sale order group
