Cannot install Guestbook module

Question

I'm trying to install this particular module : https://apps.odoo.com/apps/modules/11.0/rp_guest_book/ to my Odoo version 11.0. I have done the followings :
extract the zipfile to  C:\Program Files (x86)\Odoo 11.0\server\addons  folder
restart odoo server in Service tab of Task Manager.
activate Developer Mode
go To Apps, then click Update App List.
update the addons_path variable in the odoo.conf file with both the standard path to addon folder  C:\Program Files (x86)\Odoo 11.0\server\addons

Hello,
I think  C:\Program Files (x86)\Odoo 11.0\server\addons is your default addons location . And from your question I came to know that you have extracted the new addon '*rp_guest_book*' to the same folder. Since you have extracted to the same/ default folder, you don't have to update the 'addons_path'. You can skip that step. We only update 'addons_path' variable and add new paths to it when we have addons in another folder other than what we already have in 'addons_path'.
So remove that lo

Solution :
rather than this folder      :  C:\Program Files (x86)\Odoo 11.0\server\*addons*
i extract it into this folder :  C:\Program Files (x86)\Odoo 11.0\server\*odoo\addons *
​ now it works fine.
PS : I should have known since that is the default value of  addons_path  variable of odoo.conf file. Silly me :D
