I am using the trial version to check if this will serve our needs. In Bahrain the currency uses 3 decimal places. How can I change from 2 to 3 decimal places for accounting and pricing?

You can change this in Currency configuration.
Enable Developer mode from general settings, then go to Accounting->Configuration->Currencies
select your desired currency and change rounding factor as below:
