Hello , 


I’m looking to enhance the user experience on my Odoo platform by allowing customers to create their own quotations without having to make a purchase on the ecommerce .

Here are the features I'm aiming for:

  1. Product Selection: Users should be able to browse and select products from the ecommerce .
  2. Quotation Generation: After selecting products, they should have the option to generate a quotation instead of proceeding to checkout.
  3. PDF Download: Ideally, the system should allow them to download or email the generated quotation in PDF format.

Does anyone have experience with setting this up in Odoo? Any guidance on modules, configurations, or custom development would be greatly appreciated!

When a user or customer adds products to the cart a quotation is automatically created, i.e even an abandoned cart creates a quotation.

The quotation would be in state 'Quotation' and it would be visible to customer as their cart. If an internal user changes the state to 'Quotation sent' (from action menu) it would move from cart to Quotations to review for the customer.

Both instances (manually changed by sales person or customer using a pay later option) would create quotations, you might want to review which option allows the flexibility for the sales team to review the customer created quotation

Hello Ubai Salih,

I'm looking to replace the checkout by a quotation request process on my company's website. I have started implementing @Jaideep's solution of using a duplicate of Wire Transfer. However, a lot of content (titles, text, button, meta title, url, etc.) refers to a payment rather than a quotation request, which is a problem since it can confuse customers so as to what they're about to do (for example, clicking on a button that says "pay now" when requesting a quotation doesn't make sense).

Have you successfully implemented the solution suggested by @Jaideep for generating a quotation as PDF downloadable? 

If so, could you please provide a few details on how you implemented it?

Thank you for the insight! You're right —  However, I think adding this capability could be a significant improvement for both businesses and customers.

Allowing customers to generate their own quotations directly would streamline the sales process and empower them to take action faster. It could save time for sales teams and offer customers more flexibility in creating and customizing quotes based on their needs. This feature could also enhance the overall customer experience and help businesses close deals faster.

I hope Odoo takes note of this and considers adding a self-service quotation feature. It would be a great addition that could benefit many users!

It is possible to achieve this, duplicate the payment provider Wire Transfer and rename to 'create a quote' or 'generate your own quote' or what have you.

The customer would now be able to add products to the cart and checkout using this method. 

The quotation would be in quotation sent state and visible to customer in "My Account" as quotations to review. It can converted to confirmed order either by salesperson or by the customer.
