First chart of the following link disclose the TCO is higher in Odoo/OpenERP when compared with SAP. Why is that?

Hello Sampath,

The “Total Cost of Ownership” 18 , usually abbreviated as TCO, is a calculation designed to help people make more informed financial decisions. Rather than just looking at the purchase price of an object, TCO looks at the complete cost from purchase to disposal. It adds to the initial purchase price other costs expected to be incurred during the life of the product, such as service, repair, and insurance.

For more information about he TCO. You can refer the PDF given below.

@Sampath.  I believe you are refering the the line chart which indicate that the TCO score of OpenERP is higher compared to SAP.  Please note that it is score rather than $ amount.  Thus, you need to look into the details (the link provided in the page that you mentioned is dead), which detail that the higher score means better/lower TCO.  It may be counter intuitive but in my past experiences we do usually correlate higher score with "betterness".  Blame it to the person who labeled it TCO.  May be "Lower TCO" is a better label.

EDIT: If you read through the page, near the bottom, the comparison of actual $ amount are charted.  You are welcome to check that.

Thanks for the feedback.

I have read the "http://www.opentia.es/docus/OpenERP_evaluation_with_SAP_as_reference-CC2011_feridis.pdf" document. In the section 5, it has several subsetions to elaborate the TCO. In all sections OpenERP/Odoo has lower cost. But in the conclusioon area (section 8) "66. Blue Ocean Wave" line chart has higer figure when compared with SAP. That's the question I am having.
