I'm using Odoo Online (currently on v18.4e). Documentation and tutorials mention about the Picking Policy where I can configure whether or not create back orders for unavailable products. Here's what I'm expecting:

But what I see on my end is this:

Should I be activating any other setting or option first to make the "Picking Policy" available?

Hi,

In Odoo, the "Picking Policy" option is not available unless the sale_stock module is installed, because this module is responsible for linking the Sales and Inventory apps. To check if it’s installed, go to Apps, remove the “Apps” filter, search for sale_stock, and install it if it’s not already present. Once installed, the Picking Policy option will appear.

Hope it helps.

Thanks! Does this get installed as well if I install the whole Sales app? I haven't installed that app yet for my use as well.

The Picking Policy option is defined in the module Sales and Warehouse Management (technical name sale_stock) and is located at Settings -> Inventory -> Section: Operations -> Picking Policy. This should also be automatically installed once you have Sale and Stock installed.
