The chatter was empty.

I sent a message there, and it was forwarded to my company's gmail.


Now what happens if someone emails info@mycompany.odoo.com?

Go to the "Contact" record of your Company and see if they are showing up in the chatter there.

...but only if the info@ mail is also routed through the catchall account

Isn't catchall required only when an external email server is used ? In this case, I'm guessing based on the wording of the question that they are using Odoo online.
