I created action and template as in odoo16 docs, but when I click on print button I got error: AssertionError: Call _get_view_id, expected 'ir.ui.view', got 'ir.actions.report'

Try to add binding_type in the report record in xml:

I faced the same error, My issue was that I was not passing the template id in field 'report_name' instead I was passing the the report id
...
module_name.my_report_template
...
Still the same error
