What is the correct way to read (get) all possible translations for a field in odoo.

Example:

• I ihnerited from product.template to modify the state field.
• I added three new states (selection values) ppnew, ppcheck, ppapproved with three strings "New", "To Check", "Approved"
• I overload the load() method to make sure the correct state is used on import of csv file
• BUT how do i get all possible Translated values for the field product.template.state for the selection ppnew ?!? to use it in if clauses

So if anyone could shed some light how i could get all the available translations for a specific field in python it would be great!
