Hello,

I'm using Odoo 10 community,

Please advice on how to manage products classified as assets in the organization and that are not stock items ex: vehicles, printers, computers.. In other word those items that we  purchase occasionally and directly consume them.  


Would you advise to create a new product type with a custom module?

If not what will be your advise on how to purchase, receive them and be able to trace them in the system?

If yes how to receive them from a purchase order and be able to trace them in the system also will this  interact in internal transfers, warehouse management and the inventory valuation

No. For that purpose you use asset management.

When you purchase an asset, you'll have to assign an asset category in the vendor bill, then an asset will automatically be created.

I would love to use asset but in all module and tutorials asset I have seen they don't show the process of purchasing the assets. do you have idea on how this asset is purchased in odoo? Like how to purchase the asset and how to receive it

Thanks for you quick response. If I'm getting it well, it means on the PO or Inventory level there is no way to differentiate actual products and assets
