Is there a implied rule on the relationship between sub-releases?

So what should be used to start developement of a solution that has to last over 2 years?

thanks

The only versions that are LTS are the X.0 versions. This means that in the case of the 7 Series, only 7.0 is LTS. The intermediary versions between 7.0 and 8.0 are either commits on trunk, which is a work-in-progress development version and can certainly not be used in production whatsoever, or they are stable SaaS releases that will be pushed to SaaS users and supported only until the next SaaS version is released and only on the OpenERP Online platform.

Ok thanks for the clear statement. Now I would suggest to have a "clean" documentation wher we have only features and facts related to these LTS releases. Being new in openerp it strickes me that docs are mixing all these together.

The community book of the official documentation contains a chapter related to release cycles. Is it what you are looking for? https://doc.openerp.com/contribute/14_release_cycle/
