What is the best way to use Odoo's Accounting module to record debt and equity securities transactions?

Here is an example business case: You run a Business Development Company (BDC) in the United States. Your primary business activity is purchasing equity shares (stocks) of small, thinly-traded public companies. For any given company in which you invest, you purchase equity shares on multiple occasions over time. Your cost basis for each purchase of shares may differ, even though each share is interchangeable (each share has the same unique CUSIP identifier). In this example, US GAAP (FASB ASC 320: Investments - Debt and Equity Securities) would apply, in case it changes the answer.

How can you

  1. Efficiently record these transactions in Odoo Accounting at time of initial purchase,

  2. Maintain a sufficiently-detailed record of cost basis in the event that you sell some or all of your shares, and

  3. Efficiently book unrealized gains and losses while you hold the shares, or realized gains and losses when you sell the shares

Specific examples from actual implementations would be particularly helpful. This question is not about accounting treatment of the above example, but on the best set up of Odoo Accounting for the above business case.

By the way, i see Interactive brokers as a data contributor in Bank accounts list. I think this case would be quite usefull for Hedge or PE funds, they also need accounting by the way.

But i do not see any possibility to evaluate portfolio by current exchange prices.

Odoo is an Enterprise Resource Planning system and not designed for your business case. There are applications built for your business.
