First you have to synchronize Odoo and Google as explain on this tutorial : How to synchronize your Odoo Calendar with Google Calendar
Then each Odoo user may go in the calendar module, click on "SYNC WITH GOOGLE" displayed under the calendar summary. It is gonna opened a Google account authentication windows in which the user may key its google credentials (email address et password).
Afterwards Odoo will synchronize with this particular google account and you can find the details in Odoo / Settings / Users & Compagnies / Users / tab calendar.

Is there a way to sync also the public holidays, it seems it sync only other events not public holidays.
I would say, import the public holidays into your calendar. I've never tried it but it's worth a try.

Would you also know by any chance if it works the other way around? If a user can import all its project tasks from the Odoo calendar to a Google calendar for instance (to share with internal users)?
I think that the calendar is well synchronised in both directions but you should not confuse the calendar (with your agenda) and the calendar view of the different templates (CRM, Project tasks, ...).

Yes the question was related to that: being able to synchronize the calendar view of Tasks to the Google calendars of the users.
