Hello to all Odoo enthusiasts and experts,
Let me introduce myself: Elias Milambo, 32 years old, passionate about technology. I have a background in computer science and am CCNA (Routing & Switching) certified. After graduating high school, I took web development courses (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL) via Udemy.
I then completed an internship at a company using ReactJS on the frontend and Django on the backend. I learned Python and React, and after 5 months, I realized that the salary was financially limiting my ambitions.
I then turned to freelancing on Fiverr and Upwork, but with only two projects in several months, the high competition and saturation of the platforms made me reconsider.
Today, I want to specialize in a technology that truly values technical skills while offering solid financial opportunities. I chose Odoo.
Why Odoo?
It's a mature, SME-oriented ecosystem.
It's very present in the French-speaking world (and I'm bilingual in French and English).
The market seems less saturated compared to the very popular JavaScript stacks.
I want to fully invest, learn seriously, and build a profitable career.
👉 My questions are:
Is it a good strategic decision to specialize in Odoo today?
Are there any realities or challenges I should be aware of before taking the plunge?
Where should I start: Functional Administrator, Consultant, or Developer?
Is the Odoo documentation sufficient to make serious progress as a developer?
What strategy would you recommend to learn effectively and stand out in this market?
Thank you very much for your feedback; your advice will be invaluable.
Best regards,
Elias Milambo
