It's probably specific to AskBot (the engine in the background) and not openerp.com.

The "practical" answer given is in violation with RFC 822. I would not be shocked that the people who are writing such bad implementations are YOUNGER than the 1982 draft of RFC 822.

To advocate ignoring RFCs leads down a path where the Internet stop working as without RFCs and following the RFCs the internet does not work.
