I have installed version 8 couple of months ago from git.
How do I update to the latest version?
Odoo is the world's easiest all-in-one management software.
It includes hundreds of business apps:
- CRM
- e-Commerce
- Contabilidad
- Inventario
- PoS
- Project
- MRP

Better to use following commands if your repository is from GIT:
- git checkout 8.0
- sudo git pull origin 8.0

I used the following to install:
https://raw.githubusercontent.com/lukebranch/openerp-install-scripts/master/odoo-saas4/ubuntu-14-04/odoo_install.sh
Hi :
go to /opt/odoo/odoo-server
sudo git pull
When the process finised, you have Odoo updated to last
Restart the odoo server and that´s all !!
Remember : Make BACKUP BEFORE
