I have a service type item called 'dish', and I have storable type items for example 'fish'. I would like to link these two articles so that when you order a 'dish' that you can include the 'fish' item in it and deduct it from the stock.

Why not use the manufacturing module?
-setup a kit and include in it the components that make the dish.
-sell the kit to trigger stock moves of the components
-if you still want to enable services on the kit product let me know.
