Hello Odoo Community,

I’m working with a construction company and we’re using analytic accounts to manage our projects. For example, we have a project called:

Analytic AccountSaed Villa

Now, I want to create a dedicated budget for this project:

BudgetSaed Villa BDG

Within this budget, I need to define sub-budgets for different cost categories such as:

  • Materials
  • Manpower
  • Transportation
  • Equipment
  • Subcontractors

Each of these should ideally be tracked separately under the main project budget.

My question is:

Is there a way in Odoo to structure a budget like this — either by using analytic sub-accountsbudget lines, or any other method — so that I can monitor each category individually while keeping them grouped under the main project?

Any guidance, best practices, or module recommendations would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance 🙏

Hello Manish

In this case, when I register any bill, it affects all budget lines.

Please refer to the attached photo.

As I understood from the Odoo implementer earlier, each analytic account represents a project—which makes sense, especially since the profit margin is shown on the analytic account page.

However, when creating a bill, you can only select the analytic account itself (i.e., the entire project), without specifying whether the bill relates to materials, salaries, or other categories. This makes it unclear which budget line the bill should be allocated to.

also as you know in construction company there is budget for each project and this budget is split between material , transportation manhour , etc...

Hi there Saed,

Were you able to figure out how to have different budget lines for different cost categories?

Thanks in advance!

Unfortunately I was not able to do it as of yet.

Hello Saed,

For this you can create one budget, and under the budget you can add multiple budget lines, and each line is linked with an analytical account.

Based on that, you can easilytrack all the things.

Thanks.

As I mentioned earlier, if I create multiple lines (which is what I'm aiming for — a line for material, a line for manpower, etc.), the issue arises when registering a bill. It will impact all budget lines simultaneously, as I highlighted in the image.
